Alfred McAlpine - General - UK, Alfred McAlpine Secures Over £120M of New Business Wins

Alfred McAlpine, the support services group, today announces new contract wins worth over £120m.
The largest of these is a £40m contract from tie Ltd under which Alfred McAlpine will deliver the protection and diversion of telecoms, gas, water and electricity services required for the construction of the Edinburgh tram network. Utility diversion work is scheduled to commence in Spring 2007.
Separately, Alfred McAlpine announces that it has secured a series of new construction contracts with a combined value in excess of £80m. These include a £26m contract to build one of the UK's first new generation primary healthcare centres at Aldershot, an £18m contract to build a Crowne Plaza Hotel for Ician Developments in the Smithfield area of Manchester and a £10m contract awarded by the Welsh Assembly to upgrade the A470 between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Cancoed in North Wales. Alfred McAlpine has also secured a £15m award from the Highways Agency, under its M4 Technology Framework contract, to construct message sign bases and the associated communications infrastructure between junctions 14-15 and 16-18 on the M4.
