Ennstone plc - General - UK, Ennstone Buys May Gurney Surfacing

Ennstone plc's English subsidiary, Ennstone Johnston Limited, has acquired the business and assets of May Gurney Surfacing, a downstream surfacing contractor based in Norfolk, for a total consideration of £475,000. This acquisition continues the Group's strategy to develop a fully integrated operation in the English business.

Vaughan McLeod, Chairman commented:

"The Group has continued to progress with the UK businesses performing well, bolstered by our strategy to integrate the Group's own aggregates into downstream products. The acquisition of Berwyn and May Gurney Surfacing has continued this momentum. In the US, the weakness in the housing market has continued to create difficult market conditions. However, we have a good position in our US regions, are developing our product and customer range and are confident of further successes in the medium term."
