Miller Homes - General - UK, Miller Homes Buys £50m of Land in 2006
Date: 18 Dec 2006
Prominent regional housebuilder, Miller Homes East Midlands, has announced that it has spent more than £50 million in regional land deals in the past year, with over 60% of the acquired land being brownfield.
The housebuilder has also met its target of developing 600 units and plans to increase this total to 800 units per annum over the next few years. Miller Homes East Midlands has also announced its intentions to expand into Lincolnshire, Rutland and Northamptonshire, specifically targeting Sleaford, Grantham, Stamford, Lincoln, Kettering, Wellingborough and Corby.
"Miller Homes East Midlands has invested considerably in land over the past year, but it is the quality of the land - not the overall value that we believe gives us real cause to celebrate," explains Andy Noton, Miller Homes East Midlands' deputy managing director.
"We have worked hard to secure some tremendous deals in a region where there is currently a shortage of quality land in the right locations.
"We are beginning to look for locations outside of Miller Homes East Midlands' primary operational area of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire in order to increase our unit completion rate and keep pace with the demand for new homes.
"Miller Homes East Midlands is now one of the major players in the region, with a brand synonymous with build quality and a unique customer experience. With the current high levels of consumer demand aside - the combination of these points of difference and our ability to secure land in some of the best locations is creating a tremendous demand for our product."
