Atisreal UK - Retail Development - Romsey, Plans for new shop development in Romsey
Date: 21 Dec 2006
Plans for a long-awaited shop development in Romsey have been submitted after leading commercial property specialist Atisreal incorporating Neilson Holt, clinched an agreement to acquire the site on behalf of clients.
The scheme, on the former British Legion site in Latimer Street, was owned by Waitrose, part of the John Lewis Partnership, and will see the new shops linked with the food store.
Architects Relph Ross Partnership, of Salisbury, have now submitted a planning application to Test Valley Borough Council for eight new shops, with offices and apartments within an attractive landscaped setting and paved walkway.
Roger Holt, of Atisreal, said: "We have been in discussions with Waitrose for several months and terms have now been agreed for this exciting development linking the existing retail frontages in Latimer Street with the store.
"Work should start in the spring and we have already had a number of retailers wishing to be involved in the development. When it is completed the scheme will be another piece in the jigsaw to create a balanced town centre."
It is hoped the shops will be trading by late 2007.
