Rokeby Developments - Mixed-Use Development - Southampton, Revised Southampton Mixed-Use Scheme Gets Go-ahead

Date: 08 Jan 2007

Rokeby Developments has won the inquiry into its 180,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme at Antelope Park, Bursledon Road, Southampton.

The scheme, which has been forward funded by Morley Pooled Pensions, will include a 45,000 sq ft of retail prelet to The Range and 90,000 sq ft of leisure accommodation with a 40,000 sq ft letting to Gala.

Tom Naylor of Rokeby Developments says: "The site originally had outline consent for a 125,000 sq ft mixed use scheme. By reworking the planning we have increased the size of the development by almost half again which, when completed, will provide the public with a high-quality retail and leisure destination.

Although some distance from the Town Centre the site and surrounding area is in need of regeneration and this is why it was ultimately decided the application complied with PPG 6."

Construction is due to begin in January with completion expected in two years time.
