Bluestone - Offices Development - Liverpool, £11m Employment Park South Construction Contract

Date: 05 Feb 2007

Bluestone's Liverpool office has won an £11 million contract from Langtree Group plc to build office and business accommodation at Wellington Employment Park South, a new business park being built to the north of Liverpool city centre.

The contract will see Bluestone create a 30,000 sq ft office building, which will be sub-divided into four smaller units to provide space ranging in size from 1,625 to 4,000 sq ft. The company will also construct four light steel-framed industrial blocks sub-divided into smaller units ranging in size from 1,400 sq ft to 8,410 sq ft on two sites at Dunes Way and Derby Road.

"As a local company, we're delighted to be involved in the construction of Wellington Employment Park South," says Barry Roberts, area director of Bluestone in Merseyside. "This is an important development which is set to play a major role in the creation of new employment and business opportunities."

Langtree and Bluestone are working on the new employment park with the Liverpool Land Development Company (LLDC), a regeneration company created in a joint initiative between Liverpool City Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and English Partnerships. The LLDC is responsible for implementing major physical and economic regeneration projects in four areas of Liverpool outside the city centre.

"Wellington Employment Park South is a key element in the regeneration of the Northshore area," comments LLDC chief executive David Waugh, "and is a significant early step that will help generate more investment and jobs in Liverpool."

The Dunes Way site is due to be completed by August 2007 and the Derby Road site is due to be completed by January 2008.

"This is an extremely significant regeneration project for Liverpool," says Stephen Barnes, North West regional director at Langtree. "It forms one of a number of key regeneration schemes that Langtree is driving forward in the city and we are confident that with Bluestone, we can ensure that this will be another successful project for Langtree, in partnership with LLDC and English Partnerships."

Bluestone is working on several regeneration projects with Langtree, including the new Alchemy business park in Knowsley, on Merseyside.
