Lee Baron - Industrial Development - Biggin Hill, Manchester Firm Secures Private Jet Airport Expansion
Date: 18 Jun 2007
Manchester based surveyors, Lee Baron, have successfully negotiated an 80 year lease with
Biggin Hill Airport Limited for two new hangers for their client, Air Partner plc.
A master plan to develop a new high security private jet enclave, the nearest such facility to the City of London, has seen Lee Baron advise on development, financial appraisals, leases and build costs. Lee Baron are now assembling a design team.
The site, which already has planning permission, will have two state of the art aircraft management and maintenance hangars built by 2010. The total capital expenditure of the project is expected to be £5 million, with Lee Baron providing project management services throughout the build.
Biggin Hill, which is located just 14 miles south of the City of London, is London's last remaining
non-slot regulated airport, enabling Air Partner to offer clients greater travel flexibility than existing slot controlled airports.
The larger hangar will provide 2725m2 of servicing and maintenance space supplemented by approximately 900m2 of offices and ancillary space. The smaller hangar will provide over 1500m2 of garaging for Air Partner's fleet and customers.
Robert Walters, Business Development Manager of Biggin Hill Airport Limited commented "We
are absolutely delighted to welcome this new investment and service by Air Partner. Biggin Hill Airport is one of London's best kept secrets, and is growing fast."
Peter Savile, Director at Lee Baron added "We researched the project in great detail, advised Air Partner on all the available options and are confident Air Partner can exploit their strategic advantage with their chosen development. The first hangar will be completed in 2008 giving the client operational profit just two years later."
