ISG Totty - Industrial Development - Stockport, ISG Totty Building Secures Stepping Hill Hospital Project
Date: 03 Jul 2007
ISG Totty Building has commenced work on a £750K project with Pennine Care NHS Trust, to extend facilities at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, Cheshire. Working adjacent to the Mental Healthcare Unit, the contractor will build a new two-storey extension and refurbish existing consulting suites on the ground floor of the main hospital building.
The new steel frame extension has been designed to fill a void at the front of the building and will house a reception and café area on the ground floor, with three administrative offices on the first floor. With a flat membrane roof and brick, coloured render and cedar cladding to its façade, the structure will form a new eye catching and more accessible entrance to the Mental Healthcare Unit.
Refurbishment work within the main building sees ISG Totty Building rationalise space to create a reconfigured reception area, along with the installation of new suspended ceilings and floor coverings to modernise the existing facilities. There is a major external element to the project, with the contractor forming a new car park area and building a landscaped sensory garden area for patients, with a range of walkways and textured hard and soft finishes.
Gary Hughes, construction director at ISG Totty Building, commented: "Investment in public healthcare facilities within the North-West continues to provide ISG with a wide range of opportunities. By demonstrating an enviable track record of successful project delivery, allied to our expertise of carrying out schemes within live environments, the company is securing an ever increasing share of this key market."
