ISG Jackson - Mixed-Use Development - Cambridge, ISG Jackson Graduates With £3.2 Million University Of Cambridge Scheme
Date: 01 Aug 2007
ISG Jackson has secured a £3.2 million project with Robinson College, one of the 31 Colleges of the University of Cambridge, to build new graduate student accommodation on the outskirts of the city. The two, three-storey buildings have been carefully designed to sit sympathetically within their surroundings, occupying a site adjacent to existing Robinson College facilities off Sylvester Road.
Providing purpose-built, modern accommodation for University graduates, the two new structures will house 48 individual study bedrooms, with en-suite facilities and communal kitchen and dining accommodation across each of the floors. A number of rooms have special adaptations to make them suitable for disabled graduates, with ISG Jackson also installing a lift within each building.
Externally, both buildings feature brick and render finishes to their façades, with timber frame windows and majority tiled roofs. An environmentally friendly bike shed, with a green sedum roof, provides secure parking and a rainwater storage tank will provide irrigation for a new garden area. ISG Jackson will also carry out a range of hard and soft landscaping finishes on site, with the project scheduled for completion by July 2008.
Phillip Allerton, director of ISG Jackson's Living division, commented: "Working with key regional educational institutions, ISG Jackson has secured high profile student and graduate residential schemes valued at over £9 million within the past two months alone. The education sector continues to invest in improving and upgrading facilities across its property portfolios and ISG Jackson continues to be well placed to secure an increasing share of this burgeoning market."
