OFF Developments - Leisure Development - Corby, Hilton Choses Off Developments' Corby Leisure Scheme For Its First Uk Hampton Inn

Date: 01 Aug 2007

OFF Developments has won detailed consent for its 75,000 sq ft mixed-use leisure and retail development Rockingham Park Leisure on a key gateway site on the northern outskirts of Corby.

At the heart of the £10m scheme, which is being funded by Dunbar Bank, is a three star 86-bedroom hotel which hotelier Hilton has chosen as its first UK location for its mass market Hampton Inn brand. Hilton is aiming to have 50 Hampton Inns in the UK within the next five years.

The three-star hotel will cater for visitors to the nearby Rockingham speedway circuit and the increasing number of business travellers visiting the regeneration hotspot.

OFF Developments was founded by Mike Foster, the former head of mixed-use development at Railtrack. He said: "Attracting a major hotel operator like Hilton is a significant coup. But Hampton Inn is not the only first. Wetherspoons has chosen the 4.5 acre scheme to launch a new family pub and restaurant format which will trade as The Samuel Lloyd and Dominos will also premier its new European format at Rockingham".

Cllr Pat Fawcett, Leader of Corby Borough Council said: "This is fantastic news for Corby - we are always pleased to have new investment in the Borough, and it's wonderful that Hilton have chosed Corby to launch its first Hampton Inn Hotel in the country. The development will provides great facilities for both visitors and residents, and I'm delighted that the family pub has a name that reflects Corby's history, which we are all proud of".
OFF Developments has appointed local agent Marriott Hardcastle to secure tenants for the remaining 12,000 sq ft health and fitness club, a 5,000 sq ft day nursery and a 7,000 sq ft children's activity centre.

Foster added: "Recent corporate activity in the health and fitness market has flushed out a flurry of enquiries from leisure operators. Subway has taken space and we are close to signing up a final tenant for the last remaining 1,150 sq ft food unit."

Dunbar Bank' Midlands regional manager Simon Green said: "Dunbar Bank is extremely pleased to support OFF Developments with the provision of development funding. Because the scheme is well conceived and located, Mike Foster has been able to attract such well-known occupiers to Rockingham Park. Corby is an up and coming town, attracting both private and public sector investment and is located in an area of the country where we hope to make other sizeable investments/commitments."

Nick Bolton, Director of Investment and Marketing for North Northants Development Company said:
"This scheme represents a major boost to Corby's hotel and leisure offer and we are delighted at its success in attracting major operators and prospective employers, such as Hilton, to the area.
We envisage the new hotel being particularly popular with business travellers but the mix of leisure uses employed in the overall development means existing residents also have much to look forward to at Rockingham Park Leisure."
