Atlas Ward - Industrial Development - Wellingborough, Atlas Ward Score Hat Trick In Wellingborough

Date: 01 Aug 2007

Atlas Ward has recently commenced work on its third building to date at ProLogis Park Wellingborough totalling in excess of 1.1 million sq ft. The contract was awarded to them via Fitzpatrick Contractors on behalf of Pan-European Developer ProLogis.

The initial 2 warehouses were launched to the property market by guest speaker Jackie Charlton, football legend, and went on to be let to Monsoon and Homebase to fulfil their UK distribution needs.

The latest building, Zone A, Plot 2 measures 543,265 sq ft and consists of over 1600 tonnes structural steelwork. All three buildings were undertaken on a design and build basis.

In total Atlas Ward will have, designed and built in excess of 4000 tonnes of structural steelwork on this development.

ProLogis Park Wellingborough, in Northamptonshire, is at the heart of the UK's most strategically important distribution location. ProLogis Park Wellingborough is the first phase of WEAST (Wellingborough East), a 361 hectare development site. The remainder of the site will be developed in a partnership involving the borough council and the Government as a major sustainable urban development.

It will include:
3000 new homes for up to 8000 people, many of them within walking distance of ProLogis Park Wellingborough.

A fully integrated local transport network and significant improvements to the local rail link.

110 hectares of high tech development land, attracting a skilled workforce and providing an increasingly diverse skill base.

There is a large existing labour pool which is being augmented by the significant investment in Wellingborough East which will attract a growing skilled labour force to the town. The strategic location, moderate wages and readily available workforce combine to make ProLogis Park Wellingborough an ideal centre for national distribution.
