Knight Frank - Offices Development - Leeds, That's Capitol! New Phase Of Pioneering Park Is Launched

Date: 05 Sep 2007

A new phase in the development of the pioneering Capitol Park by Junction 28 of the M62 in South Leeds was launched this week.

Work has now begun on a new speculative 13,500 sq ft office building, which will be situated at the front of Capitol Park West by the A650 Bradford-Wakefield road

The building is next to a superb new 109-bedroom De Vere hotel and leisure club, where work is also now underway.

It is estimated that the new hotel will create up to 250 full and part time jobs providing state-of-the-art leisure facilities, café bar, pub, restaurant conferencing and banqueting facilities. It is scheduled to open in September 2008

Meanwhile there is 30,000 sq ft of quality office space available at Capitol House and 5,000 sq ft of quality office space available at Raynham House. Both are brand-new state-of-the-art buildings.

This next phase in the development of Capitol Park should see the number of jobs at there double to 2,400 by 2009.

Martin Croxen, the chief executive of Sterling Capitol, who are developing the 55-acre commented: "As a company, Sterling Capitol are extremely proud of what we have achieved here. Job creation is at the heart of our plans at Capitol Park and there are already more than1,200 people already employed on site at companies as diverse as Carcraft, PetCare, dePuy, Real Radio, the NHS and the Henderson Insurance Group.

"But we are not finished yet and the launch of this next phase of development will create good sustainable jobs in an attractive, high-quality environment," he added.

The reaction of the companies who have moved to Capitol Park has been extremely heartening. For example, Barry Nightingale, a director of Carcraft, has commented: "We know that Capitol Park has an exceptional location and reputation. The proximity of the major conurbations of Leeds and Bradford and the excellent motorway links make Capitol Park a very attractive site. We are delighted to be here."

Joe Henderson, the chief executive of Henderson Insurance Brokers, said: "Capitol Park is the ideal base for us. The offices and the location are superb and it gives the right image for the company. The access to our network of offices could not be better and the car parking - combined with good public transport to the site - means that getting to and from work for our employees is pretty easy and stress-free."

Capitol Park is at the very centre of the north of England's motorway network. But it is also well served by public transport. There are 27 bus services passing the site every day, serving Leeds, Wakefield, Morley and Halifax. Leeds city centre and Leeds station are just four miles away, while Leeds/Bradford International Airport is a 20-minute drive. The White Rose Shopping Centre is also extremely close.

Martin Croxen added: "We believe that Capitol Park has been one of the great business park success stories in Yorkshire in recent years and it has proved, time and time again, that a quality environment and a quality location will attract quality occupiers. This launch of this new phase of the development is the latest chapter in this success story - and there are many more chapters to come. Watch this space".

The agents for Capitol Park are the Leeds offices of Knight Frank and King Sturge.
