Formation Architects - Offices Development - Slough, 'The Office' Roundabout Gets A Facelift
Date: 07 Sep 2007
Formation Architects has secured planning approval for The Octagon office development on behalf of Scottish Widows. The development, a marker for the regeneration of the centre of Slough, will become a landmark building on the roundabout made famous by Ricky Gervais' 'The Office'.
Associate Director, Nick Blake says "We are delighted that the scheme received unanimous approval from Slough Borough Council Planning Committee" and added "we had a very constructive dialogue with Slough Borough Council over this project and we feel it has resulted in an interesting design response."
The office accommodation will offer deep floor plates in separate 8 and 10-storey buildings that are linked by the central cores. The structure is rounded to the site shape and orientated to the street and boundary thus softening the building form. The office wings frame the entrance courtyard to the north and a landscaped courtyard to the south. It will provide 17,500mē (189,000 sq. ft) of grade A office space and 11/2 floors of basement with parking for 86 cars plus a full loading bay.
