Acheson & Glover - General - Major Expansion For Acheson & Glover Through Acquisition Of Readymix Subsidiaries
Date: 14 Sep 2007
Acheson & Glover, the rapidly expanding construction materials manufacturer, has bought the Finlay Breton business from Readymix plc, part of the global Cemex Group.
The multimillion-pound acquisition means that Acheson & Glover is now one of the biggest construction materials manufacturers in Ireland. Significantly, it also gives them an important manufacturing facility in England and a commercial base in Scotland.
The deal is designed to boost output of a range of structural precast concrete flooring and related products which currently account for around 20 per cent of Acheson & Glover's turnover. The newly acquired sites will give the Company a four-fold increase in precast production capacity and easier access to the strategically important southern England and Scottish markets.
The acquisition has also doubled the group's workforce to approximately 800 employees and the company's annual turnover to close to £100 million, generated from a total of 13 production sites.
