ISG Jackson - Offices Development - Peterborough, ISG Jackson Makes The Grade At Arthur Mellows College

ISG Jackson has secured a circa £6.7 million design & build project from the Governors of Arthur Mellows Village College in Peterborough, to build a new two-storey science, media and IT facility at the community college. This key investment in on site resources will enable the specialist technology college to build upon its enviable regional reputation, whilst many of the new facilities will also be available for wider community use.

Work has now commenced on the construction of the steel frame extension, which is designed with a cantilevered upper floor and supporting concrete frame columns below, forming a link between two existing buildings on site. At ground floor level, the new building features a full height glazed refectory with a large commercial kitchen and servery. This floor also provides accommodation for seven teaching rooms, two seminar rooms, a number of administrative offices and a flexible auditorium with retractable, tiered seating.

The upper level incorporates ten high specification science laboratories, a preparation room, staff room and large ICT suite. Externally, the contractor will remodel the existing courtyard and create a new car parking area. The project is scheduled for completion by autumn 2008.

By adopting robust procedures dealing with health & safety and traffic management, we will minimise any potential disruption to staff and students at Arthur Mellows College throughout the works programme and are confident that this high quality educational resource will play a key role within the curriculum and the community."
