HW - General - As One Door Closes Another One Opens

HW, Chartered Accountants have successfully advised on the acquisition of North East business John Porter Doorsets Ltd from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, who were appointed administrators on 16 July 2007.
John Porter manufactures bespoke fire doors for the construction industry supplying doors throughout the UK and abroad. The buyout, by a company owned by managing director Brian Pears and commercial director Ian McSally, successfully saved the jobs of over 60 staff who had remained loyal to the business throughout a difficult period.
All employees of John Porter remained within the relaunched company with Sunderland City Council and One North East providing assistance for the deal recognising the importance of retaining the skilled workforce.
Paul Duncan of HW, Chartered Accounts said; "The commitment of the people at John Porter, the support of the customer base and a seven figure funding package were key to securing the future of this business."
MD Brian Pears and Ian McSally said "We are delighted with the speed and ease of the acquisition thanks to everyone involved. John Porter Doorsets Ltd was founded in 1932 in Newcastle. The company is credited with designing the first system doorset for hospitals in 1974. Since then, John Porter has supplied safety doors to every education and health authority in the UK and many other customers including Buckingham Palace!
