GMI Construction Group - Leisure Development - Sheffield, Blades Hotel Taking Shape
Date: 04 Oct 2007
Sheffield United's new £17million hotel is starting to take shape at Bramall Lane.
A steelwork skyline has been developed to the rear of the Westfield Health corner stand, as the steel frame for the hotel begins to be erected, providing an idea of the scale of the project.
United have teamed-up with prestigious international company Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc to operate the four-star hotel, which will include 158-bedrooms, executive suites, a modern bar, fitness suite and restaurant.
The new hotel at Bramall Lane will become the joint biggest in Sheffield and is set to complement the club's existing leisure and conferencing facilities at the stadium.
Yorkshire-based company GMI Construction Group Plc is working with the Blades on the development, which is set to be completed by November 2008.
John Stacey, Sheffield United's Head of Property, said: "The hotel is starting to take shape now that the steelwork has been progressed and we look forward to the next stages of the development project.
"The new hotel is a further example of the club's ongoing commitment to enhance facilities at Bramall Lane and to build upon the success of our established operations"
