11 January 2008 - Procare Construction has completed construction of a new Oncology Ward, to be known as the Eden Unit, at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough. This four month long contract, worth around £900K, provides a state of the art treatment centre comprising of an out patient day care centre, 29 bed spaces complete with en-suites for all hospitalised patients, fully fitted utility and laundry rooms, kitchens, kitchenettes, staff offices, stores and reception areas.
The conclusion in construction of this modern specialist Cancer care unit for both in and out-patients was culminated in a visit on New Year's Day by the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, who was accompanied by his wife Sarah, Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Health, and Fiona Mactaggart, MP for Slough.
"The Eden Unit is the second construction project we have completed at Wexham Park Hospital in 2007 and provides a fantastic new facility for cancer sufferers. In addition it further enhances Procare's growing portfolio of projects in the healthcare sector," commented Jerry Ball, director of Construction at Procare.
