Think, the landmark event focusing on sustainability in the built environment, announced today that it has secured UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) Chief Executive Paul King to chair the high-profile conference programme, which will run alongside the exhibition at Think 08, on 7 and 8 May at ExCeL.

The UK-GBC's involvement with the Think initiative will also extend across 2 special "Think Tank" seminars. The Think Tank, in partnership with UK-GBC, will lead the construction industry's involvement with the Prince of Wales "May Day" climate change initiative with Business in the Community.

Think Tank attendees are drawn from leading companies and organisations across the public, private and third sectors including UK-GBC members and its contribution to HRH's May Day initiative will be to address the financial barriers to tackling climate change in the built environment.

David Pierpoint of CMPi, organisers of the Think 08 and Think Tank initiatives said, "We have a crucial role to play in facilitating debate on the challenges the built environment faces in the future. The UK-GBC is the ideal partner to ensure the issues discussed are the most pressing, and that our debates and seminars contribute to genuine progress on sustainability."

Paul King, chief executive of the UK-GBC said, "This year's Think conference looks set to generate a lively discussion - an opportunity that is being extended through the Think Tank seminars. As Chair of the conference, I look forward to challenging delegates to do some radical thinking on sustainability."

The Think 08 exhibition and conference which will run over 7 and 8 May next year at ExCeL. Following the success of 2007's inaugural event, Think 08 will explore the economic, social and environmental challenges in delivering sustainable development, and look at the wider responsibilities of the property and construction industry in dealing with the issues of climate change, urban renewal and redevelopment.
