Robertson Capital Projects - Mixed-Use Development - Forth Valley, Alloa
Date: 05 Feb 2008
Construction of the new £20 million Alloa and Clackmannanshire Community Hospital and Health Centre for NHS Forth Valley has started on site. The project is being developed by Robertson Capital Projects and designed by HLM Architects, and comprises a new integrated health centre for Alloa and a Community Hospital for Clackmannanshire on Sauchie Hospital site incorporating the former Glen Alva Mill on Hallpark Road.
The Community Hospital will include 45 inpatient beds for physically and mentally frail older people, including provision for intermediate care and rehabilitation, palliative care and continuing care for those with complex needs. Day services for the elderly and people with mental health problems, bases for community mental health teams (adults), social work services and other community services will also be provided.
The facilities represent a key milestone in delivering NHS Forth Valley's integrated health care strategy to meet the needs of the residents of Alloa and the wider population of Clackmannanshire. When the new Hospital and health centre opens in early 2009, the community will benefit from overall healthcare and support services delivered from a unified facility, with Health Centre Services and Community Hospital sharing a close adjacency to each other.
