The Horbury Group - Mixed-Use Development - Sheffield, Kelham Island district

Date: 27 Feb 2008

The Horbury Group has secured two contracts jointly worth more than £1.5m to help construct a major development in one of Sheffield's most historic locations.

Horbury's MWS Joinery and Horbury Building Systems will work to complete the £16m first phase of mixed-use development, Kelham Riverside in the city's Kelham Island district. A long term village community, the scheme will offer 146 one and two bedroom contemporary apartments with bar and restaurant facilities below.

Main developers, Mansell Construction Services, has awarded Horbury Building Systems a £900,000 contract for drywall and partitions and MWS Joinery a £700,000 deal to provide doors, frames and skirting boards.

David Priestley, business development manager, at the Horbury Group, said: "This project is set to rejuvenate a once neglected area of inner-city Sheffield. The scheme is in the city's industrial heartland and the design and architecture incorporate many original features that truly reflect the sites industrial past. It is an honour for MWS and Horbury Building Systems to be involved in such a prestigious development."

The Rotherham-based Horbury Group will be on site until July 2008.
