Support services and construction company Carillion has secured a £155 million contract for the construction of the Lumiere Development in Leeds, for client Lumiere LP, a joint venture between KW Linfoot Plc and the Frasers Property Group.
The contract involves the construction of two mixed-use high-rise towers in the West End area of Leeds. Tower One will be 55 stories and Tower Two, 32 storeys, and when complete, the project will be the latest to hold the title of tallest residential development in Europe.
Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: "We are delighted to have secured this prestigious project, which will provide a focal point for the regeneration of the West End area of Leeds."
Tower One will house retail units at ground and mezzanine levels with the remaining floors being predominantly dedicated to private apartments designed by the internationally renowned designer Philippe Starck. Tower Two will also house retail units at ground and mezzanine levels with commercial office space between levels one and ten and the upper floors comprising both serviced and private apartments, for those aged 55 and above.
An enclosed winter garden will link the two towers at ground floor level and car parking will be provided at three basement levels. Construction will take four years.
