HLM Architects - Appointment - Glasgow, Scotland
Date: 26 Mar 2008
HLM Architects has appointed Richard Forbes as Environmental Engineer to improve its sustainable design by simulating the energy and environmental performance of building models. He is based in the practice's Scotland office located in Glasgow.
Richard joins HLM from Cadogans and previously Whitybird. He is an expert in energy saving initiatives and has developed new solutions that improve the efficiency of numerous building types. Richard studied at the University of Strathclyde, HLM's partner for the HLM 4D award-winning software that aids its in-house architects, landscape architects and interior designers in the creation of energy efficient designs.
Richard said: "Joining one of the country's leading practices in sustainable design and using my sound technical knowledge and engineering background will allow me to push the boundaries of what is possible. I hope to be able to help HLM to achieve its ambition to lead the industry in sustainable design."
David Cafferty, director in charge of HLM Environment, said: "For many years, we have had engineers within HLM to guide us in the creation of energy efficient design and ensure we are constantly developing new techniques to reduce carbon emissions. Richard expands on this expertise by enabling us to simulate the environmental performance of the buildings we create so we can improve them further.
"As a practice, we are committed to reducing carbon and have won awards for our achievements in the CIBSE 100 Days Carbon Challenge since it began," he added.
