Investment launches growth strategy across booming operations division

Architecture and space planning practice Space Solutions has unveiled plans to open the UK's first independent showroom for contract furniture suppliers and manufacturers.

Part of a 12,576sq ft unit at Deans Industrial Estate, Livingston, the 1,000sq ft state-of-the-art showroom will be available for corporate product launches and evaluations, client shows, tender presentations or exhibitions involving suppliers, manufacturers and their end clients from across Europe.

Investment in the new facility marks the launch of a new growth strategy for the operations division which anticipates a 50% rise in business and the doubling of staff numbers from 14 to 30 in 2008.

The showroom, which will be available for lease on a daily basis and come complete with the latest plasma technology and internet connections, will provide independent space which can be tailored to an individual company's needs. With excellent transport links to the M8 it provides - for the first time - an easily accessible and affordable way for suppliers to showcase their products to new markets.

The unit, which represents a £500,000 investment for Space Solutions, will also house new purpose-built offices and secure warehouse facilities for the company's successful operations division which netted contracts in excess of £1.6million last year. The new base, which is four times the size of Space Solution's existing Livingston premises, will allow the company to extend their furniture relocation and installation service by offering clients sample storage, fast-track stock storage and transit plus a full on-site workshop repair service for customers throughout the UK.

"Investment in this new project is in direct response to feedback from our customers who have highlighted the lack of innovative facilities of this kind in the marketplace," said operations business manager, David Brunt.

"Until now furniture suppliers have been faced with the choice of transporting their products to the offices of prospective clients or asking them to travel great distances to their own showrooms. We are offering a centrally-located, fully flexible alternative in which to showcase their goods the way they want to."
