Leeds developer Deltalord was joined on Friday (04 April) by Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs/MP for the Leeds Central Constituency and the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds, councillor Brian Cleasby and Mrs Jocelyn Cleasby, for the topping out ceremony of The Mint on Sweet Street in Leeds.
The ceremony, which involved tightening the final bolt to the steel frame building, was performed by the right honourable, Hilary Benn. Also joining the celebrations were Mr. Liam O' Connell of Allied Irish Bank, Dublin and Leeds City Council members including Vanessa Allen (Holbeck Urban Village).
Colin Hayes, managing director at Deltalord, comments: "We were delighted be to joined by Leeds City Council for the topping out at The Mint. The scheme is set within the established Holbeck Regeneration Project and has been carefully designed to blend seamlessly into the wider project offering highly specified, modern office accommodation that benefits from a prime location with good transport links.
"We have worked closely with the Council throughout all stages of the project and we are very pleased to be making a positive contribution to an area that is currently undergoing immense regeneration."
Hilary Benn MP, comments: "Holbeck Urban Village is creating a new community with a mix of commercial, residential and leisure developments. It is transforming the southern gateway into Leeds city centre and The Mint will provide a great opportunity to attract new businesses to the area."
The Mint is a state-of-the-art building with a 'very good' BREAM energy efficiency rating and is due to be completed in September 2008. It comprises 115,000 sq ft (10,683 sq m) of grade A office space arranged over seven floors with generous car parking. Located adjacent to Bridgewater Place and surrounded by large corporate occupiers, The Mint offers excellent links to the M62 and M1 motorways and is also within close proximity to Leeds City station.
Savills and AWS are joint letting agents at The Mint.
Quoting rents at The Mint start at £23 per sq ft (£247 per sq m).
