Churston Heard - Retail Sale - Surrey

Date: 21 Apr 2008

Screwfix, the country's largest supplier of tools and hardware products to the building industry and DIY market, has opened its 100th UK outlet following the acquisition of a 6,000 sq ft (557 sq m) trade counter property at Epsom Trade Park from SEGRO.

Since October Screwfix has opened a total of 30 new stores and is looking to acquire a further 50 by the end of 2008. The recent openings include trade counter properties in, Cardiff, Dartford, Milton Keynes and Bow in East London.

Screwfix's Property Manager, Grant Nash, says: "The opening of the 100th store is a major milestone in our expansion plans. Our target customer needs a combination of keen pricing and a reliable supply of stock and to meet our customers demands we take units that are highly accessible and in busy locations."

Rowan Peden of Churston Heard, who advises Screwfix adds: "Typically we have been looking in locations where builders merchants are already established or prominent busy main roads. The focus has been on units from 6-9,000 sq ft but units as small as 5,000 sq ft have also been taken where suitable."

Screwfix is represented by Churston Heard and ColliersCRE.
