Magna Holdings Ltd - Offices Development - Bradford, West Yorkshire

Date: 08 May 2008

A £30 million mill regeneration in Bradford will be starring in a new BBC show every week for the nest six months.

Dalton Mills in Keighley has been chosen by True North Productions to be the venue for their new Sunday morning BBC show fronted by former athlete, Colin Jackson and BBC journalist Louise Minchin.

Sunday Life will be a human ethics programme, with a lively mix of news, conversation, debate and human interest stories. The show has a warm informal style so a loft apartment has been designed and set up within The Clock Tower at Dalton Mills especially for the show. The loft has been designed to be modern and informal, with a living room, dining area, study and kitchen. True North productions have leased an entire floor of the Clock Tower, so as well as the loft, there is also dedicated green rooms, dressing rooms and technical and production areas.

Sunday Life's producers chose the space in Dalton Mills before the show was even commissioned by the BBC, and they have been working for the past year, with designers, builders and technical staff to transform the space into a working TV studio.

The news is a massive boost for both Dalton Mills and Keighley as a whole, adding weight to the plans outlined in the Airedale Masterplan, to create a hub of hi-tech industry. True North producers felt that Keighley was the ideal location for Sunday Life because of it's cultural diversity, which would ensure that Sunday Life is relevant to every faith in modern Britain.

The show has initially been commissioned by the BBC as one of two replacements for 'Heaven and Earth', which was previously transmitted in the BBC's Sunday morning slot, and the first series will run for 24 weeks.

Dalton Mills is being transformed at the hands of Wakefield-based property development company Magna Holdings Ltd who acquired the Grade II listed building in 2004.

Chris Lee, Management Surveyor for Magna Holdings Ltd, said: "We are delighted to welcome true North Productions to Dalton Mills. To have a high profile TV show filmed at the mill is obviously a huge coup for both Dalton Mills and Keighley as a whole. In the Clock Tower, we provide modern office space within environment full of character, which suited True North's needs for filming."

The first phase of the plan to create four floors of contemporary commercial office space in the Clock Tower, a key feature of the mill's rich heritage, is now complete. The original façade of the Clock Tower has been restored to its former glory while the interior has been converted into stylish contemporary office space. The office suites start from 1000 sq ft, and boast high speed IT connections, car parking and conference facilities. The creation of additional quality office space in Keighley should provide a big boost for the town as it attracts new business, and hopefully new jobs, into the region.

Sunday Life will be broadcast from Dalton Mills every Sunday at 10am on BBC 1.
