BDP - Industrial General - Scotland, Edinburgh
Date: 12 May 2008
BDP has just opened a studio in Edinburgh which complements BDP's long established presence in Glasgow. It will be led by architect director Graham McClements who moves from the Glasgow studio where he has played an active role since 1984.
The Edinburgh studio is based at Multrees Walk in the city centre,
Graham and his team have already secured the £6m Bathgate Council Offices and Community Facilities project. This, along with the practice's Edinburgh-based work, which includes the redevelopment of Tanfield House in the City Centre and the new West Lothian Civic Centre in Livingston, gives the new studio a strong platform on opening.
Graham McClements head of BDP's Edinburgh studio commented "I am looking forward to the challenge of developing our new studio into a successful BDP office. We have an excellent start-up team and a good portfolio of projects from which to build. Being right in the heart of this fantastic city will undoubtedly reinforce BDP's presence in the region and attract the interest of designers wanting to join one of the UK's leading integrated design companies."
This new studio follows on from openings in Winchester in 2007 and in Birmingham in 2006 and brings the total of BDP studios across the UK and Ireland to eleven.
The Manchester and Sheffield studios are due to move into new BDP-designed buildings later on this year (2008).
