Morgan Lovell - General - UK
Date: 20 May 2008
A company that has developed a solution to make UK workplaces 'greener' - with a far reaching effect on the environment - has been officially ranked among Britain's top 50 green companies.
Morgan Lovell, which designs and builds sustainable office interiors, has secured success in the Sunday Times Best Green Companies Awards 2008.
The company was chosen because of its holistic approach to sustainability, which includes reducing its impact on the environment as well as helping clients reduce their carbon emissions through 'green' office design.
Speaking about the criteria for success in the Green List, Richard Caseby, managing editor of The Sunday Times, said: "The 50 companies in this survey are all pioneers - enterprising, enlightened and fizzing with new ideas. All have a common sense of purpose about their corporate social responsibility.
Key to Morgan Lovell's entry was its design and refurbishment of its headquarters - a 'testbed' office that utilises the latest in sustainable thinking. Located in London's Soho, the office achieved the highest environmental rating under the BREEAM system, from the BRE. If rolled out across the UK, the nation's offices would significantly reduce their carbon emissions.
David Henderson, managing director of Morgan Lovell, said: "Recognition in The Sunday Times Green List reinforces the level of research and development we've put in place to reduce the impact the nation's workspaces place on the planet."
