Alder King - Offices Development - Bath, Avon
Date: 28 May 2008
Construction of a brand new Grade A office building in Bath is now underway.
Bath and Counties Developments Ltd have begun building an office unit at Weirside Court, located next to Lower Bristol Road. The new development follows the success of Unit 1 Weirside Court, which was refurbished and sold to St. Johns Ambulance Service last year.
The new building, named Unit 2 Weirside Court, will create 12,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation on completion. Property consultants Alder King have been appointed to market the development, which can be split to offer office space from 2,000 sq ft to the full 12,000 sq ft. Unit 2 will have scenic views over the River Avon and up towards Beckworth Tower. Bath and Counties Developments Ltd are also creating an area next to the river for staff to sit and enjoy the views. The new office development is also on one of the main bus routes into Bath and also has 50 allocated car parking spaces.
Weirside Court will help to further regenerate the local area, because it is being built on a brownfield site, which was once used as a metalworks/timber treatment yard.
Jonathan Rodaway, senior surveyor at Alder King, commented: "Bath has no supply of brand new Grade A office space in its city centre and this is the only Grade A office space currently under development in the city. We have already received interest from a number of local occupiers.
"Despite what is being reported in some areas, there is certainly not a lull in the Bath property market."
Construction has begun on site at 2 Weirside Court with the steel frame of the building due to be erected in June this year. Completion is planned for early 2009.
