Wirefield - Industrial General - Segensworth, Fareham, Matrix Park

Date: 26 Jun 2008

One of the UK's leading independent manufacturers of industrial and commercial lighting has relocated its headquarters near Southampton to accommodate a growing order book.

Wirefield has moved operations within south-west Hampshire from Barton Farm Industrial Estate, Eastleigh, to a 20,000 sq ft industrial unit at Matrix Park, Segensworth, Fareham.

The deal was handled by Fareham-based commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard on behalf of a pension fund, Legal & General's Industrial Property Investment Fund, which owns the business park.

Wirefield, which manufactures its energy-efficient products in Hungary and China before importing them to the UK, signed a ten-year term at an annual rent of £125,000 - equivalent to £6.25 a sq ft.

The end-of-terrace unit one comes with top-of-the-range facilities - an office, racking storage up to ten metres high, 30 parking spaces and a loading apron.

Wirefield, which has 40 staff and was previously at Eastleigh for nine years, is the first business to occupy the premises.

David Lippold, the managing director of Wirefield, said: "With a growing order book we needed to find a site which can store up to 1,500 pallets of goods and provide space for future assembly lines. Our new regional base ticks all the right boxes, including height storage."

Hughes Ellard managing director Gary Jeffries said: "Matrix Park is proving popular with expanding companies and its strategic location near junction 9 of the M27, coupled with excellent working facilities, is undoubtedly a major draw. We're delighted to have helped Wirefield find the right location."

Hughes Ellard is marketing the park, which was completed three years ago, jointly with King Sturge. Other occupiers include corporate identity specialists Futurama, insulation company Mark Group and the UK's longest established timber business, James Latham.
