Pringle Brandon - General - London and the South West
Date: 27 May 2009
Pringle Brandon, the London-based interior architect and workspace design and planning specialist, is celebrating following a brace of awards from the British Council for Offices (BCO).
The BCO Awards were established to set a benchmark for excellence in workplace design, and for the second year running Pringle Brandon's flair for design and flexibility has seen the firm gain BCO recognition. Following on from 2008's recognition in the Best Large Workplace for category for Fortis Bank and Best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace for Unilever, this year the BCO has named Pringle Brandon a winner in the Fit-out of Workplace categories for London and the South-West.
The winning entry for London is the designer's carbon neutral fit-out of 201 Bishopsgate for global asset management firm Henderson Global Investors (HGI), while the successful design and planning of international software house Microsoft's new offices using their global workplace standard, Workplace Advantage (WPA), at Building 5, Thames Valley Business Park, sealed the South West and South Wales award.
Jack Pringle, senior partner at Pringle Brandon, says that the firm's design philosophy is the reason for its success:
"The social aspect of an office in the knowledge economy is all important. It should be where people come to expand their minds, to bounce new ideas around with colleagues to create new products, new systems and ultimately, new wealth.
"Clearly, the aim of modern office design remains to improve productivity, but the approach has evolved a great deal and is now focused on fostering a sense of quality and personal fulfilment. Well designed offices attract the best people because they offer them the freedom and the facilities to succeed. This means as much interaction at work as in personal life, by working where and when it suits the individual or the task best.
"Flexibility, function and aesthetics are important criteria in creating vastly improved workplaces where productivity increases, however, something that's often overlooked by architects and something which we feel passionately about, is the ability to create environments which make people feel happy."
