ENVIRON - Appointment - Manchester

Date: 09 Jun 2009

Whenever companies invest in new projects, they face a growing body of ever more stringent environmental and safety rules wherever they operate. International environmental and human health consultancy, ENVIRON, has appointed a specialist to help clients find their way through the maze of regulation that they now confront.

Jonathan Hancox has been appointed as manager in ENVIRON's Manchester office and brings wide experience including environmental due diligence, environmental risk assessment and management, auditing, training provision, safety risk assessment and environmental modelling.

Originally a mathematics graduate, Jonathan's extensive international experience spans a wide variety of projects in both Western and Eastern Europe, the CIS region, Asia and the Middle East.

In the oil and gas industry, he has been involved in assessing proposals in Sakhalin in eastern Russia, Slovakia, Oman, Norway, and Saudi Arabia. He has advised on an airport upgrade project in Moldova, a nuclear power plant in Bulgaria and a chemical plant in South Korea. He has helped develop aerodrome design rules for the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority and undertaken a number of studies on behalf of clients such as BAA, Airbus and Sydney Airport.

In recent years, Jonathan has focused on providing support to government agencies and financial institutions. This work has included numerous environmental due diligence assessments for both structured project finance and the acquisition of investments, often utilising his extensive knowledge of applicable international standards including those of the World Bank and the Equator Principles.

"Jonathan has rapidly built up an impressive portfolio of experience in very diverse fields and regulatory environments, and his appointment will give ENVIRON and its clients valuable strengths in the field of risk assessment and compliance, wherever they operate," said ENVIRON senior manager, James Patterson.
