Milner - London SW1, Jermyn Street

Date: 22 Jun 1999

One of the most significant refurbishments of recent years, 130 Jermyn Street in London's West End, has reached the latest milestone in its reconstruction and is on target for completion in February 2000. Just eight months after starting construction work, Milner Estates plc and the Crown Estate today celebrated the topping out of 130 Jermyn Street with contractors Bryant Construction (Southern) Limited.

This landmark building will have an end value of £30 million. This is near to Piccadilly Circus at the junction of Jermyn Street and the Haymarket on a prominent island site, and will provide 2,950 sq m (31,750 sq ft) of open-plan office space on the 2nd to 6th floors.

Speaking at the topping out ceremony, John Ritblat, chairman of Milner Estates said:

"The company has some fine West End properties, and Jermyn Street is topping out at a time when demand for quality West End offices is very strong".

Nell Borrett, Crown Estate Director of Urban Estates said:

"I am delighted to have the honour of topping out this building. The 130 Jennyn Street development is a good example of one of a series being undertaken within the Crown Estate's core holdings in London's West End".

Jeremy Sandle of Milner Estates added:

"Our target completion date of February 2000 is within our sights. There is little doubt that large open floor plans, excellent natural light and unbeatable St James's location will appeal to international companies seeking a presence in the heart of London".

The £6 million refurbishment is being carried out by Bryant Construction (Southern) Limited. The sole letting agent is CB Hillier Parker.
