Spacia - Offices Development - Wakefield, Trinity Court

Date: 15 Aug 2001

Growing companies in the Wakefield area are to benefit from a £700,000 scheme at Trinity Court, which sees redundant railway arches converted to accommodation for business.

Spacia - the UK's largest provider of small and medium sized business space - has refurbished 12 railway arches to create six double business units, each providing a workshop area and an interconnected office unit with ground and first floor accommodation. In total the development, to be completed on 17 August, will provide 12,000 sq ft of high specification business space.

The scheme, just off Junction 39 of the M1, has been partly facilitated by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund. By working closely with Wakefield Council, and the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, Spacia has been able to ensure that the development will contribute significantly to the economic regeneration of the area.

Stephen Barrie, Director of Spacia, comments: "We are determined to facilitate the growth of the small business sector in Yorkshire by regenerating properties to provide affordable, flexible accommodation. We are keen to forge more public private partnerships - such as at Trinity Court - since we believe that this approach has the best results for the local community in terms of physical and economic regeneration."

The Trinity Court development will be Spacia's second completed project in Yorkshire, following an arch regeneration in Sheffield. A number of other schemes in nearby Leeds are due for completion later this year.
