ICL Scotland - Offices Development - Glasgow, Braehead Business Park
Date: 08 Oct 2001
ICL Scotland today officially opened its new Glasgow office at Braehead Business Park in a ceremony attended by Wendy Alexander MSP, minister for enterprise and lifelong learning.
The new office, which will be the home for over 100 ICL Scotland staff and house a dedicated new staff training suite, follows the company's continued growth in Scotland and its particular success in the west.
The opening follows a highly successfully year in which ICL Scotland has notched up a number of innovative projects with organisations such as Aegon (UK), Scottish and Southern Energy and Moray Council. The company has also developed a 'virtual farm' for the Scottish Agricultural College and implemented a new post office system in the world's smallest post office in Dores on the banks of Loch Ness.
Scott McGlinchey, director of ICL Scotland said: "The new office at Braehead will consolidate our presence in the west of Scotland and accommodate our ever-growing staff numbers in the Glasgow area.
"Braehead is one of the most vibrant areas in Glasgow's economic regeneration landscape. We're very proud to be one of the first wave of IT services companies to relocate to Braehead and we hope that our move will act as a catalyst and attract further investment in the area."
Scott McGlinchey continued: "ICL has recently been piloting a new PVA product. It represents the latest integrated communications technology and has the potential to truly revolutionise the ways in which we work and keep in touch with each other. Users will be able to program their PVA to take calls, direct voicemail messages, answer e-mails and read text documents in their absence or while on the move.
As part of ICL's ongoing commitment to Scotland and the Scottish marketplace, the company is the main sponsor of the 'Scots of the 20th Century' project, which was launched in partnership with Edinburgh-based Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network (SCRAN) on 11 September.
The first project of its kind in the world, SCRAN and ICL have invited the nation to vote for the most inspiring Scots of the 20th century. The top 100 will be revealed in April 2002 and a piece of specially commissioned digital artwork depicting them will be displayed alongside the world famous 'Frieze of Scots' by the artist William Hole in the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
"ICL is committed to our Scottish customers and the communities in which we operate. The 'Scots of the 20th Century' project is a highly tangible example of this commitment we look forward to revealing the nation's favourite Scots next year," concluded Scott McGlinchey.
