Morley Fund Management - General Development - Southgate

Date: 09 Jan 2002

Southgate developer, Morley Fund Management, and B&NES have agreed a partnership approach to resolve the two principal issues which require addressing prior to reconsideration of the Southgate planning application.

At a recent meeting, both parties expressed their shared vision to see the Southgate area redeveloped and agreed to make a concerted effort in seeking a solution for the two key issues - the design of the bus facilities building and matters around a replacement ramp.

Morley Fund Management, which is leading the development, will commission architects, Wilkinson Eyre, to carry out further design work on the bus station facilities building and on options for the ramp access to the station. Clive Thomas, Strategic Director of Economic & Environmental Development at B&NES, has agreed to chair a series of meetings to bring together the opinions of all interested groups. Both parties are aiming for the final proposals to be considered at a Development Control Committee meeting in Spring 2002.

Jim Drysdale of Morley Fund Management commented, 'I am pleased that B&NES has responded positively to our proposals and welcome their positive approach. We are confident that the two outstanding issues can now be resolved early in 2002'.

Clive Thomas, Strategic Director of Economic & Environmental Development at B&NES commented, 'Considerable improvements to the scheme have already been achieved, it is important that we resolve these outstanding items quickly, in order that the redevelopment process can proceed with purpose. I look forward with renewed optimism that an acceptable solution can be achieved'.
