sbh.uk - Mixed-Use Development - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Chestergate Seddon's Lymedale Park
Date: 09 Jan 2002
Warehouse and distribution property specialist sbh.uk has recently handed over a new 24,000 sq m distribution centre to retailer T K Maxx in just 22 weeks, well ahead of schedule. Located on Chestergate Seddon's Lymedale Park development in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the 11.4m high bespoke unit will provide increased capacity for T K Maxx to store and distribute products to its nationwide retail network.
The centre provides 1,600 sq m of offices alongside a multi-tier mezzanine, storage racking, a multi-tier garment hanging installation and a wide range of material handling equipment. As part of the high-speed fit-out, an Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinkler system was installed in just six weeks. Located in the roof, the ESFR system releases a high volume of water in the case of fire and minimises the use of inflexible rack mounted systems.
Fast access and turnaround should be assured as the centre has 18 dock levellers and two drive-in doors with parking for 50 lorries. The 15-acre site also includes parking for 500 cars.
Richard Johnson, director of Chestergate Seddon who appointed sbh.uk as construction consultants, commented: "sbh.uk has developed a close working partnership with the Seddon Group, starting with the successful completion of Wedgwood's Global processing at Stone. Their track record in completing projects on or ahead of schedule gives us extra confidence in the standard of service we are able to offer our clients."
