Date: 23 Jan 2002
The Prudential Assurance Company and Chartwell Land have submitted a planning application to South Gloucestershire District Council for a 120,000 sq ft B&Q Warehouse at Lysander Road, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.
Many of the customers for the new store are expected to be drawn from people already shopping and working in the Cribbs Causeway area. The development will improve the bus, cycle and pedestrian facilities in the area. A new junction will also be created on Highwood Lane.
Part of the site is currently occupied by Magnet and Tileflair, who are to be relocated in Cribbs Causeway. Should the application be successful the B&Q Warehouse, the relocated Magnet and Tileflair will open in Spring 2003. Magnet and Tileflair will continue to trade throughout the planning application period without any disruption to their respective customers.
The B&Q Warehouse will replace the existing B&Q Supercentre at Cribbs Causeway. Approximately 250 people will be employed at the new store with all the staff at the Supercentre being transferred.
