Merlin Project Management - Offices Development - Heathrow, World Business Centre

Date: 05 Jul 2002

Merlin Project Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of property advisers Rogers Chapman, acting on behalf of Amadeus, has completed on time and on budget a full-blown project, including overseeing a £2.35m fit-out at the World Business Centre at Heathrow.

Amadeus, one of the world’s most extensive electronic marketplaces in support of over 100 airlines and other travel service providers, was awarded a ten-year ticketing contract by British Airways. To support this contract Amadeus agreed a 6,503 sq m (70,000 sq ft) pre-let at Phase 3 at BAA Lynton’s World Business Centre at Heathrow.

Merlin Project management was brought on board, and at very short notice temporarily housed Amadeus in three separate locations nearby, while WBC Phase 3 was being built.

David Payne lead the Merlin team and was responsible for all aspects of the occupier’s needs including ensuring the base-build construction met the client’s specifications at the same time as providing space planning, interior design, services design advice and tendering and overseeing the 16-week, £2.35m fit-out carried out by Overbury PLC.

In addition to Merlin’s work on the new facility and sourcing the temporary accommodation, they provided design work and advice on the bespoke security installation that protects the IT infrastructure and other property related matters.

Marc Henry, Amadeus Facilities Director commented: “Merlin was exceptional at every stage of the 18-month process. During the whole project, our business continuity was key as was the implementation of our new corporate branding, which involved working with teams from France, Germany and Spain. With Merlin we were able to avoid any struggle to meet our intended move dates,” he added.

Merlin Project Management is currently commissioned by a variety of companies to provide similar independent and independent project management advice during the many phases of the project process.
