Spacia - Offices Development - London SE1, Old Kent Road
Date: 05 Aug 2002
Nine newly refurbished railway arches from Spacia – the UK’s largest small business landlord - have been completed this week on the Old Kent Road¸ Southwark, providing over 8,000 sq ft (743 sq m) of quality office space for small and medium sized businesses in London.
Following over £550,000 of investment, the arches have been converted into seven business units ranging in size from 850 to 2,600 sq ft.
Spacia’s Business Estate Manager, Simone Bailey commented: “The premises have good transport links - within easy access of Queens Road station, Peckham and New Cross Gate – and are likely to attract companies operating in the light industrial or warehousing sector.”
This latest refurbishment project by Spacia forms part of its wider plan to redevelop 150,000 sq ft of business space across South London during the latter half of 2002. With major developments currently progressing in Waterloo (95,000 sq ft) and South Bermondsey (33,000 sq ft) and with a 26,000 sq ft development in Deptford – Resolution Way – recently completed, Spacia is expanding its portfolio of more than 4,000 properties in London in response to demand from small and medium sized business.
Simone Bailey continued: “Our research has shown that a fifth of London’s SMEs are still experiencing difficulties in finding suitable business premises. Spacia wants to address this by redeveloping sites to provide quality workspaces across the capital which will meet client demand. Our 2002 redevelopment programme in South London will provide over 100 additional business premises for a varied assortment of SMEs, all in close proximity to convenient transport links.”
