Vail Williams - Retail Development - Basingstoke Leisure Park
Date: 03 Sep 2002
Amsric Foods, trading as KFC, has purchased a site from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council for a site at Basingstoke Leisure Park.
The 280 sq m (3,000 sq ft) drive-thru’ will be adjacent to the new McDonalds drive-thru’ and will provide an extra facility and add value to the already successful leisure park, which includes a Warner Village, Bingo Club, Bowlplex, Ice Rink and Travel Inn.
The scheme, which has recently seen the opening of a new swimming pool complex and Milestones Museum, is located on Worting Road, to the west of the town centre.
Both KFC and McDonalds bid jointly for the site last year and were selected by the council as the preferred developers after an open market tender process.
Peter Spelman, partner of retail and leisure at Vail Williams advised KFC and said: “There is no doubt that this will be a very successful drive-thru’ due to its accessibility and prominence at the Basingstoke Leisure Park.
“It attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and I would anticipate that this new drive-thru’ will be one of KFC’s highest turnover outlets in the south east.”
Both drive-thru’s will be open for trade this November.
McDonalds and Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council were represented in house.
