Fisher Hargreaves Proctor - Offices Development - Mansfield, Ransom Wood

Date: 19 Sep 2002

The regeneration of Nottinghamshire continues as the unique business park, Ransom Wood in Mansfield, recently opened the doors to a brand new addition to the complex in the shape of its first purpose built offices. Derek Mapp, Chairman of East Midlands Development Agency, performed the ceremony and congratulated the Company on its successful enterprise. He emphasised the benefits available to employers in Mansfield. Businesses who have taken offices in the park include health, banking, computer software and hardware, water treatment and highway engineering, also those associated with outdoor activities and sports surfaces as well as charities.

Over £2 million has been invested in the newly completed state of the art building located in the heart of Sherwood Forest. Ransom Wood Business Park prides itself on providing a natural setting whilst managing to maintain swift road connections to the north and south including Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Over half of the 20,000 sq ft of office space has already been let to the highway engineering company, AMScott, bringing over 100 jobs to the area, and Ransom Wood’s Managing Director Michael Cannon, is confident that the remaining space will soon be occupied by business appreciative of Ransom Wood’s quality design and tranquil surroundings. Interest in the ground floor has been expressed by existing tenants as well as the education and insurance sectors.

“We are immensely proud of the new building and have ensured that the highest quality design technology and materials were used” said Michael Cannon. Michael continues “our natural surroundings are unique and caring for the environment was also key to our plans. Trees have been replanted and Grassguard was laid instead of Tarmac, comfort cooling was installed rather than air conditioning and our whole objective has been to create working conditions where staff look forward to coming to work. Employers obviously benefit from a more content workforce.”

Ransomwood Estates Limited have plans to create a further 300,000 sq ft of high quality, environmentally friendly and affordable offices. Some of which will be leased and others available for freehold sale.

The Company is also involved in the early stages of developing a combined heat and power plant, which will use green energy as well as waste paper and cardboard from the local community. Both heat and electricity from the plant will be used on the estate to achieve sustainable objectives. A further 1,000 jobs should be created at Ransom Wood as the rolling development takes place.
