Forsters - Mixed-Use Development - Chester City Centre

Date: 30 Sep 2002

Mayfair firm, Forsters, has been selected following a tendering exercise to act for Chester City Council to promote a compulsory purchase order which will underpin a major mixed use development within Chester City Centre to be undertaken by London & Amsterdam as the Council's chosen developer. The proposed scheme offers major new retail, leisure and office facilities in the City centre and key civic uses including a library, theatre, market hall and bus station.

Michael Cunliffe, Planning Partner at Forsters will lead on the project and will be supported by Senior Planning Solicitor Caroline Carter. Forsters was appointed by the Council in March 2001 to deal with the development work and this is being handled by Head of Commercial Property, Smita Edwards.

Commenting on the instruction, Michael said:
"We are delighted to have been instructed to deal with the CPO on behalf of the City Council and we are looking forward to working with the City Council and London & Amsterdam".

Ian Mason, Legal Services Manager at Chester City Council said:
"We look forward to working with Michael and Caroline on this important development project which will regenerate a quarter of the old Roman City significantly enhancing Chester's retail offer and providing many new community buildings".
