Strutt & Parker - Mixed-Use Development - Stevenage, Arlington Business Park
Date: 14 Nov 2002
Arlington Securities, represented by Strutt & Parker, has received outline planning consent to re-develop a former British Aerospace site into a 35,488 sq m (382,00 sq ft) business park on junction 7 of the A1 (M), at the gateway to Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Demolition of the existing buildings on the 9.8 ha (24 acre) site is due to begin next month, ready for development in early 2003.
The new business park, to be known as Arlington Business Park Stevenage, will accommodate 15,235 sq m (164,000 sq ft) of offices, 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) of car showrooms, plus retail space, a day nursery and restaurant facilities. There will also be 15,700 sq m (169,000 sq ft) of B1 (c), B2 and B8 industrial/warehouses, with units available from 185 sq m (2,000 sq ft).
Paul Arnold of Arlington Securities plc comments:
"This planning consent will provide us with the opportunity to develop a first class, mixed-use, business park, with excellent amenities and alongside the A1, at the gateway to Stevenage".
Simon Underhill of Strutt & Parker comments:
"Stevenage has been in need of a high quality business park for many years. The new Park, coupled with the redevelopment of the 10 ha (26 acre) BAe Systems site next door, should make this the main business area for the town - an opinion which is underlined by the keen interest we are already receiving from potential occupiers."
