Chantrey - Offices Development - Isleworth, London Road
Date: 26 Nov 2002
London-based commercial and residential regeneration experts, Chantrey, recently completed a comprehensive refurbishment and modernisation of a late 1960's office block situated at 551 London Road, Isleworth, for owners London & County (Isleworth) Ltd.
Duncan Gunn of Chantrey Architects designed the scheme which was implemented by Chantrey’s Project Management Division under the supervision of Director, Paul Anthony and Paul Irons. Work carried out on the 22,301 net sq ft office building included new elevational work, reception, common areas, lift refurbishment, and new office finishes including new suspended ceilings, CAT 2 lighting, secondary glazing and carpets
Duncan Gunn: “We are very pleased with the outcome of the project. With tenants in occupation and a tight budget and programme we designed the refurbishment’s elements accordingly, producing a modern solution and enhancing the building’s appearance. We focussed the design on the previously inconspicuous entrance by designing a new, illuminated signage fin and lightweight glass and aluminium canopy. The results are fresh and modern.”
The project represented a particular challenge in that the building remained 50% occupied throughout the £900,000, 3 month refit.
Paul Anthony: “ The scheme required a dedicated core management team to ensure the construction works progressed in line with the client’s tight programme requirements whilst balancing the rights of the tenant’s to their quiet enjoyment. Chantrey were appointed for the design, project management and property management enabling a fully co-ordinated approach to the success of this high quality refurbishment”.
The main contractor for the project was Mansell Plc utilising their “Special Projects Division”, ideally suited to this type of refurbishment in an occupied building.
Simon Blair, Managing Director London & County: “For this project to succeed, it required skilful co ordination between the builder, professional team and in particular, the tenants in occupation. Chantrey were selected for their close attention to detail and ability to call on in house services. I have been delighted with the finished product and particularly pleased that the final account was settled below budget shortly after PC! This job has been a credit to all involved and the response from prospective tenants has been most favourable”
