Kenmore Property Group - Offices Development - Glasgow, Waterloo Street
Date: 29 Nov 2002
Kenmore Property Group received Planning Consent from Glasgow City Council on 26th November 2002 for a landmark 84,000sqft Grade A office development marking the gateway to Glasgow’s newly established International Financial Services District. The new building, to be known as Sentinel, is to be located on the site of the former Wellesley House on the corner of Waterloo Street and Douglas Street.
Designed by Gordon Murray and Alan Dunlop Architects, this striking 10 storey office scheme in stone and glass opens onto the corner, above which the building will appear as a floating glass cube when completed.
Ewan Cameron of the joint letting agents, Ryden, said “the high quality development proposed will appeal to a wide range of occupiers, in particular as a result of large clear open plan floor plates extending to around 10,000sqft. “
The property was recently acquired from the MOD and demolition of the existing building will commence imminently with completion of the project anticipated in mid 2004. Greg Limb of James Barr, who acted on behalf of the purchaser, confirmed “the site was acquired against a back drop of stiff competition but Kenmore’ s track record of performing on development projects of this kind counted in their favour.”
